Cars

Cars have a bad reputation among online communities, largely driven by primitvist viewpoints and anti-car YouTube channels. While I do understand the concerns raised with cars, and while I think public transport is superior, I think cars are actually pretty cool.

It's worth pointing out, I live in Europe and so some of the US-centric car criticism is something I can't relate to, we have walkable cities and so for us, cars aren't really a neccessity unless you live in a very rural area

I like old vintage cars because I find it fasinating how an old vehicle can still be useful even after many decades, in that it can take you from point A to B. If you drive a 1920s Ford Model T, and a 2025 Ford Puma, you'll get to the destination in pretty much the same time (the Ford Model T might take a bit longer, and require more stops at the fuel station, etc) but compared to walking, it's a small difference.

I like to watch videos of old cars being driven, and watching car repairs, and strangely compilations of cold start (cars struggling to start in the cold, it feels so satisfying seeing them turn on after struggling...am I crazy?).

I'm currently practising for my driving license, I think when I do my practical test, I'll drive a manual car even though my parents' car is an automatic and manual cars are going to be practically rare due to electric cars and ban of ICE cars after 2030 in the UK.
